Our First Labor Class

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:30 am

Yesterday we had our first labor class.  It wasn’t much different than I expected but I still found myself a little uncomfortable at times.  I don’t know.  Maybe it was being surrounded by 11 other pregnant couples in a small room or perhaps that old classroom feeling of “I just know the teacher is going to ask me a question”.  I’ve never liked that feeling of being put on the spot.

Anyway, the class was actualy pretty cool.  It was a multiples class which was special becuase because everyone there was expecting at least twins.  There was one couple who were expecting triplets!  Young looking couple too.  Maybe in their early 20s.

We went through breathing techniques, labor positions and massages all designed to relax mom.  I’ve got to say I actually enjoy being able to relax.

While discussing nutrition and the required daily protein, we reviewed a list of foods that would help provide the 150 gms of protein needed per day!  Can you beleive fried chicken had the most protein on the list?!  Awesome class!  :)

Our final class in 2 weeks from now.  Then I think we’re going to sign up for a Child Care/Infant CPR coarse.

We have a webcam!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:00 am

Hey everyone.  Just wanted to let you know that we have a webcam!  I started this back when they were building the pool becuase I wanted to be able to check out the progress while I was at work.  Long story short, I couldn’t get it to work by time the pool was complete.  Anyway, it’s here now and I’m thinking this would be a great way to say hi to Laurie and the girls while I’m away at work!  And you guys can say hi to us!  ;)  Enjoy!

My first pink shirt

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:28 pm

My mom and I were emailing each other one day before we knew the sex of the twins.  She has always thought it was okay for guys to wear pink shirts.  I didn’t agree.

In the email I told her that if she was right, that if we were having girls then I would wear a pink shirt.  I thought to myself, “If I’m having two beautiful girls then I have no problem wearing pink.”  My mom was so excited she even offered to buy the first one.

Well, sorry Mama.  My first pink shirt came today.  It turns out that I finished painting the nursery today as well.  Amazing coincidence huh?  :)

That was not before I thought I had remembered how I painted wall edeges without having to go up and down the ladder.  It turns out holding the paint tray in one hand and trying paint the edges with the other was a bad idea…

One half of my old Aggie Sport tshirt was quickly covered in pink paint.  It covered me shoulder to belt line and all I could think was,  “Well, I have a pink shirt now.”

I thought it would’ve been pickles…

I thought it would have been pickles but it turned out to be Reese’s Puff cereal!  I am not able to say much more but I can tell you that I made it out unharmed.  I learned a very important lesson last night…NEVER eat the last of a pregnant woman’s favorite food!!!

If it were pickles this would have never happened.  :)

“Identical” Girls!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:59 pm

We’ve got sitters!  Identical ones at that!  Can you believe it?!  Okay, so the doctors think they are identical.  This is because the membrane between them is so thin and because there is only one placenta.  But apparently there is a chance they are still fraternal.  We will need to have a dna test done to know for sure.  So enough of the science.  Two girls!!!  I can’t believe it.  It’s just amazing.  I mean really really amazing.  Now assuming they have small foreheads and their ears don’t stick out ;) they should be pretty darn cute! Time to start thinking about the nursery.  I can finally paint!  But what color?  Pink?  Everyone does pink.  Maybe a soft yellow…I don’t know.  Easier to let Laurie decide and I’ll just run to Home Depot.  :)

Pointers or Sitters?!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:40 pm

I believe it was Fitzwilly’s in College Station where I first saw the signs, “Sitters” and “Pointers”.  A drunken buddy of mine was a little confused by this when he went to the restroom but that’s another story.

Anyhow tomorrow is the big day.  Tomorrow we finally find out the sex of our two babies!  Pointers, sitters or perhaps one of each.  And talk about a wait, man!  I am finally glad it is here.  The shear anticipation has been killing me.  All this week I just wanted to fast forward to Thurs 2pm.

So which do I want?  That’s been a common question.  I guess honestly I have not thought about it much.  I’m very curious to know what they are but I have not really thought about whether I would prefer boys or girls.

I have always joked with Laurie though that if they are both girls then man am I in trouble!  Three women in the house and one guy.  Can you say toilet paper!  Who makes that stuff?  I need to buy some stock!  Thinking about it though two girls would be just what I need to settle me down and certainly keep me busy.  I would guess they would also instill that patience and easygoingness in me that I always wished I had.

If they are boys though…haha…oh the fun!  I finally have a few little partners in crime.  Can you imagine the things we men could do to mom!  Frogs in pool, fake poo on the dining room…err…that’s not funny.

I could really go either way.  I think as our firsts we really aren’t too concerned with their sex.  Of course having a boy now would put me more at ease later, but two girls would be awesome as well. I guess we will all find out tomorrow.  Stay tuned!
